PHP Foundations

Nothin' says lovin' like a little PHP for your weblog.

Since I'm still in the early stages of learning, I'm rather enjoying some of the basic information I'm finding at PHP Foundation, and just thought I'd share.

Thanks to these articles, I'll be better able to tackle my 572 page gift from Brenna.

By far the most useful to me is php.net. When I search for a command, a lot of times, the comments by users below them give me better ideas of how to do something. :) I'll look through my bookmarks to see if I have any other great sites to suggest!

I love the PHP Cookbook - it's published by O'Reilly and has a big iguana on the cover. It provides "recipes" - ie. little PHP code snippets, very useful for giving you an idea to work from or for looking up a quick snippet rather then reinventing the wheel. It especially helps me as a quick reference.

PHP is is nice, I use a little on my site, not much tho. You may want to look into perl as well. perl is a wonderful scripting language. Ever wonder why movable type was built in perl and not PHP?

newsgroups can also be a wonderful tool when learning a programming language, try: comp.lang.php
